Limited WiFi capability for the Zune

player_zune.jpgLots of people are covering the release of more information regarding the forthcoming Zune player from Microsoft. For a start the heralded WiFi capabilities will be somewhat limited, owners will only be able to swap bookmarks of tracks with others through WiFi so that you can buy them the later at home. You will need to be at home because to buy songs you will need a PC as it will not be possible to buy songs directly from the Zune itself.

The other information that has surfaced is that three colours will be available. Which colours is not yet known. Anyone want to hazard a guess? My guesses would be white, black and silver. Oh and the price previously rumoured to be around US $399 is to now thought to be on a par with Apple's current 30 GB iPod, which sells for $299. This sort of make sense, in my view Microsoft will have no chance of capturing significant market share from Apple without having at least parity in price, with maybe a few extras thrown in, such as the WiFi capability and rumoured bigger screen.

Plenty of news on this around elsewhere, try iPodNN or electronista or the ever popular engadget
